About Kendra Arthurs
She/Her

My Background

Hi! My name is Kendra (she/her). I am a Registered Social Worker with the British Columbia College of Social Workers (Reg. #15148). I graduated from the University of British Columbia – Okanagan with a Master’s Degree in Social Work with a clinical focus. I also hold a Bachelor of Science with a Major in Psychology from the University of British Columbia – Okanagan.

My Approach & Philosophy

I specialize in providing counselling support to young adults (aged 19-29) and University/College students as they navigate the unique challenges faced during this transformative life stage.

I understand the pressures that can arise from academics, relationships, identity development, and the pursuit of personal and professional goals. My hope is to provide you with a safe and supportive space where you can explore your concerns, uncover insights, and work toward change by drawing upon your individual strengths.

I strive to offer you a kind, patient, and non-judgmental approach to care that is rooted in evidence-based practices. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, perfectionism, low mood, stress, academic pressure, procrastination, relationship issues, or simply feeling overwhelmed by life’s uncertainties, I am here to help.

My practice is informed by various therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Therapy and Attachment-Based Therapy. We will tailor counselling sessions to your unique needs and goals, and work collaboratively to develop practical strategies and skills to address challenges and foster personal growth and insight. My aim is to empower you to overcome barriers, enhance self-awareness, and live a balanced life that aligns with your values.

What Sets me Apart

  • I have worked as a Counsellor in both the primary education and post-secondary education systems. This has allowed me to develop a deep understanding of the complexity of these systems.
  • I have over 7 years of experience offering both individual counselling and group support to children, youth, young adults, and caregivers in other mental health settings, including the non-profit sector and in crisis management.
  • I have certification in Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT).
  • I have completed training in CBT, ACT, and Play-Based Therapy.
  • I offer in-person counselling in Kelowna as well as online to reach those outside of the Okanagan.
  • Daytime and evening appointments are available.
